Ever Want to Know How to Cook Mouthwatering Stew?

You might have already tried making a chicken stew recipe or something similar and, if you did, the odds are that you used a saucepan on the stove. This is the most common way of making chicken stew but you can use a dutch oven or a slow cooker for stew recipes too.

Dutch Oven Cooking Tips for Wonderful Stew

Dutch ovens, which are sometimes called casseroles, french ovens or stockpots, are very useful. They are thicker and heavier than stockpots and this means they are able to conduct heat more deeply and more effectively. You can make braised meals, pot roasts, and stews in a dutch oven. You can sear meat in it, on the stove, and then transfer the whole thing to the oven to finish cooking. Dutch ovens have high sides, making them good for deep-frying and you can boil pasta or rice in them too.

To make a stew in a dutch oven, you can brown the meat or poultry in batches in the dutch oven on the stove. Meat browns easily in a dutch oven and you can brown a lot more at once than if; you were using a smaller pan. You can continue the stew either on the stove or in the oven.

Cast iron is a good choice for a dutch oven but iron does react with some foods. Some dutch oven manufacturers put a layer of enamel on the iron and others preseason the pots by spraying oil into them and baking it on. It is possible to erode the preseasoning away, making enamel the best choice.

Crockpot Cooking Tips for Making Stew

Using a slow cooker, sometimes called a crockpot, is a great cooking method to use with stew recipes. If you want to make stew in a crockpot, it is quite straightforward. First, you have to brown the chicken or meat. Then you add the other ingredients, perhaps vegetables, bouillon, herbs, spices and potatoes, and leave it to cook over a medium heat for five or six hours or a low heat for about eight hours.

Crockpot stews are tender and flavorful, which is why this stew cooking method is so popular with a lot of people.

If you are out working all day, why not use a slow cooker for making your dinner? You might like your chicken stew spicy or mild but whichever type of stew you prefer, a crockpot is the ideal way to make sure your dinner is ready for you when you get home. It might only take an hour or two to make a stew in a normal pan but, when you are ready to eat, a slow cooker delivers the goods instantly.

A lot of people have discovered that slow cooker or crockpot stew recipes are easy to make, crockpots come with basic cooking tips, and instructions for use, making them simple to master, even for the novice cook. The beauty of a slow cooker is you can add your ingredients in the morning go off to work and come home to the smell of a wonderful home cooked meal and not have to do any work when your tired from a long hard day's works.

Ingredients for Chicken Stew Recipes and How to Prepare It

If there is any source of meat that has such a welcoming taste and full of flavor, talk about chicken. Everybody can attest to the fact that it is so mellow and inviting. People all over the world know about the specialty and if well prepared, one would never opt for any other type of meat. Well if you enjoy cooking, there are several chicken stew recipes to help you take pleasure in this appetizing meal. If you think that you have to win a cooking award to be able to prepare the stew, cut that out. Anyone can do it simply by reading and following a few guidelines on how to make it. Are you ready to give it a go? Well friends, why not give this wonderful adventure some justice. After all, it does not hurt to try something.

Before engaging in the real work, it is always good to know some of the ingredients necessary for the enchanting meal. Consider one of the simple chicken stew recipes with vegetable and you will enjoy. The constituents for this great food are as follows. 3-4 potatoes all chopped, three carrots cleaned and cut, 1 onion medium sized, 1 standard can of stewed tomatoes. Two stalks well-sliced celery, green peas or beans, seasoning, flour, chicken meat without bones (cut in appropriate size) and water. Preparing this food does not take too long as you get ready to embark on the real business. First, heat a little oil in a saucepan, then dip in the chicken allowing it to cook until it turns brown. Put the tomatoes in and add water. Let them come to a boil as you add onions, carrots and celeries. Let the mixture simmer under low heat until the vegetables become soft. Make the stew thick by adding flour mixed with water as you add seasonings, as you taste not to exceed. Then add the beans or peas letting them cook for another five minutes under low heat. Serve while still hot. See how simple it is to have your meal ready to satisfy your appetite. Do you realize that you do not have to portray any signs of skill to put up this incredible meal?

The chicken stew instructions are as simple as, make them yourselves at the comfort of you kitchen. Be that kind of person who gives ideas a go. Do not be afraid to try because you might even come up with your own wonderful recipe to help others enjoy the fowl. For those who have a problem with animal products, chicken would not be such a bad idea to help one change their outlook on life. May be you may not have very serious reasons for not taking meat. That is if you are not a strict vegetarian of course. A birdie meal could be such an appetizing meal not to mention the tradition healing powers of its soup. Think of aroma from the kitchen, it is enough to send a few empty stomachs rumbling. Lastly, if you read widely, you will realize that there are so many chicken stew recipes for you to enjoy and learn.
Beef Stew Recipes with Mouth Watering Flavors

Talk about beef and most of meat lovers are already salivating. Imagine the appetizing aroma that will come out from your kitchen when you start cooking this stew. Several tested beef stew recipes will send your mouth watering. It is always wise to do research on what is available and put it to test. By the time, you exhaust all the recipes present; you would become a professional chef ready to contest for the hell's kitchen, even without going through any training. Incase you are wondering what in the world what this is all about, it only means that it is almost impossible to do all the recipes available as they keep on adding new ones.

Here are a few recipes that one can use to prepare right in your kitchen. They include the roasted garlic beef stew, the old fashion with winter vegetables, the ginger and tomato beef short rib and the Irish stew among others. What one should note is that these stews have different ingredients that constitute them in order to be what they are but the main component is obviously beef. Since it would not be possible to exhaust explaining how people make all of them, the only recipe analyzed is the Irish beef stew.

The ingredients include, 3tablespoon olive oil, 2tablespoon parsley, 10cloves of crushed garlic, 425ml red wine, 1tbspoon thyme, 18 whole mushrooms, 12 onions small sizes, salt and black pepper, 175g bacon cut in strips, 11/2kg beef chopped into cubes, 3carrots cut quarterly, alternately 12 small size carrots washed and left uncut, 425ml beef or chicken stock 50g butter and 50gflour. With these constituents ready, you may be ready to put one of the most the aromatic beef stew recipes into action.

Using a heavy saucepan heat, the olive oil then put bacon plus beef and heat until they turn brown then remove from the pan. Put in the mushrooms, carrots and onions one at a time as you add seasoning. Return the meat back into the pot adding the garlic and the aromatic plant then add the beef stock/chicken plus red wine letting them to cook under very low temperature for one hour. Take another pan and heat butter and flour for a period of two minutes. Once the vegetables and the meat cook well, remove them and leave the soup. Heat the soup, add a tablespoon of the heated butter and flour mixture, and stir until it thickens then return the meat and the vegetables tasting. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot with a romantic accompaniment.

After preparing this wonderful delicacy, all that you are to do is to put it to the test and it definitely leaves you leaking your fingers with satisfaction. One can take this great stew at any time of the day. If there is any left over, you may take it in the next mealtime. Why not give these beef stew recipes a go and satisfy your appetite for meat. Next time you would choose another recipe and they are equally yummy.

Another comfort food I remember from my youth is a barley soup or stew my mother used to make. Back in the 30's and 40s many electric stoves had a deep well cooker that made the soups, stew, beans. I remember the great taste her recipe gave.

These days a crock pot is used as a separate appliance to make these same slow cooked dishes. My mother used beef chunks for the stew she made. My version is similar I'm sure but does not involve the use of red meat. Slow cooking seems to give soups and stews a much better flavor than the same things made in a hurry. This one is a good one, and like many crock pot dishes, the flavors seem to get better with age. Maybe we should schedule making our slow cooked meals two days ahead, then let them age and then reheat before serving instead of eating them the same day we make them.

Easy Chicken and Barley Crock Pot Stew

Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite sized pieces
2 cups pearl barley
2 carrots, diced
4 potatoes, peeled and diced
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 stalks celery, chopped
4 cups chicken broth (or water)
1 onion, minced

Note - This recipe will make a stew that may be thinner than you like. It could be served as is over rice, but if you want a thicker stew, you could coat the onion and chicken with flour and cook in a skillet as in step 1 below. This would give a "stand-alone" dish more the consistency of a casserole.

Instructions:

1 - Cook onion in a skillet on low heat until translucent.
2 - Dump onions and rest of ingredients into a crock pot cooker.
3 - Heat on high for 5 hours.

Comment - More comfort food your guests will love you for making!

A Simple Chicken Recipe - Dark Meat Chicken Crock Pot Stew

Most advisors on health matters say you should stay away from red meat and stick to chicken or fish. Others say it is OK to eat red meat but only once a week. If you like beef, and I think that except for vegetarians most people deep down do, this is a good way to have it. If you have sworn off, as I have, then substitute a similar amount of chicken leg meat, or pork (if you think it's really that pork really is the other white meat. I like to do this recipe in two stages. First you sweat the onions to get the flavors started, then season and brown the chicken, to get the flavors the browning creates.

I use a cast iron chicken fryer for this step. Once you have browned the chicken add water or stock to the skillet making sure you scrape off all the brown bits on the bottom so they get in the crock-pot. Once you have done this you just dump it in the crock-pot along with all the other ingredients and set the timer

Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds skinless, boneless chicken thigh meat, cut into bite size pieces

1 stalk celery, cut in 2 inch pieces

1 medium onion, chopped

2 medium carrots, cut in pieces

1 teaspoon thyme

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon pepper

1 chicken buillon cube

1/2 cp all purpose flour

3 tablespoons olive oil

2 cups stock or water

Instructions

1 - Saute the onions in 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil.

2 - Combine the dry spices with flour and dredge the chicken pieces in it.

3 - Add to the skillet with the onions and saute for about 5 minutes.

4 - Add the rest of the vegetables and cook 5 minutes more.

5 - Deglaze the skillet with the water or stock.

6 - Add all to the crock pot and cook 3 to 4 hours on high.

This stew is great served over cooked log grain brown rice!

Two Easy To Make Crock Pot Stew Recipes for a Tasty Snack

If you like experimenting in cooking, then some of the crock pot stew recipes could be all you need to get started. You do not have to be a professional to make a great delicacy. All you need to do is follow a few steps to the letter and the result will be excellent. With these kinds of stews, you may get recipes from all over the world like the Thailand, Mediterranean, Arabia and Italy among others. Great chefs have already prepared and tested most of the recipes and all you need to do is go to the shop, get the right ingredients and start doing your thing.

With the Mediterranean stew, you may need to have 2 well sliced zucchini, 1chopped egg plant, 1onion cut, a red /green pepper with seeds and sliced,3 big size tomatoes,2 cans garbanzo beans rinsed and drained, ground black pepper, salt, 1 packet egg noodles cooked, 1 can artichoke hearts packed in water. Cooking this recipe does not require any wisdom. Just mix all the uncooked ingredients together in a crock pot and stir. Cook the meal for 8 minutes under low heat. Serve the noodles first then top up with the stew. The food is ready for consumption.

You may also choose to go for a vegetarian diet by making this simple beans and vegetables stew recipe. Here are few ingredients that go with it. Dry beans, 2cups veggie juice, 1/3cup apple/pineapple juice, 1/3 cup soy sauce, 1/2cup parsnips chopped, ½ cup mushrooms, 1 onion sliced, ½ cup celery chopped, 1tablespoon basil, parsley all dried, bay leaf, 3 cloves garlic smashed, black pepper, 1 cup cooked pasta or rice and water. Making this recipe a reality, one needs to soak the beans overnight then drain them and put in a crock-pot. Mix the soy sauce, vegetable juice, pineapple juice, and cover with water. Let them cook for 2 hours then mix vegetables, aromatic plants, spices, and let cook for up to 5 hours under low heat until the vegetables are tender. Add the rice or pasta and cook for another 1 hour. The stew is ready for serving.

After comparing the two crock pot stew recipes, you will realize that they are delicious and also nutritious. The only thing left for one to do is to practice by following the directions available then you will surely enjoy the outcome. Do a lot of research and get to know about all the recipes you may come across. This information is not enough to satisfy your curiosity thus it is a recommendation for one to read widely.

If you love stews then you know that you are eating healthy foods because they constitute all the nutrients needed for a healthy body. No matter what kind of stew you choose to cook, remember that some of these delicacies are yummier. Go for the crock pot stew recipes and you will sure get an amazing experience. Do not hesitate to excite your family with something they have never eaten before. Let them reserve their comments for later.

Crock Pot - Old Fashioned Beef Stew Recipe

During the fall and winter months, I enjoy making hearty soups and stews in my crock pot for my family. I love the fact that I can spend a few minutes in the morning preparing it, put it into the slow cooker and walk away...a few hours later, our dinner is hot and ready to enjoy.

The following recipe was given to me by my 83 year old great aunt about 25 years ago. To this day, I still enjoy making it for my family. If you don't like okra, you can certainly omit it from the recipe. At times, I have actually substituted the okra with some fresh green beans or green peas, and the stew was just as delicious.

Old-Fashioned Beef Stew Recipe

2 lbs. beef cubes
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 bay leaf
1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 onion, finely chopped
1 cup beef bouillon
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 teaspoons table salt
2 teaspoons granulated sugar
4 carrots, peeled and sliced in 1" sections
1 cup celery, chopped
4 potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes
4 medium-sized turnips, peeled and quartered
4 1/2 cups water
1 cup partially cooked okra

In a large frying pan, heat up the vegetable oil over medium heat. Brown beef cubes on all sides.

In your crock pot combine the browned beef cubes, bay leaf, Worcestershire sauce, onion, bouillon, pepper, salt, granulated sugar and the vegetables listed in the recipe. Pour in 4 1/2 cups of water and stir so that everything is combined.

Cover and set the dial to high heat and slow cook for 6 hours. Remove lid and stir in flour if it is needed to thicken the soup. Replace lid and turn the dial to low heat and simmer for 1-2 additional hours.

This recipe will make 6 hearty servings.
