Dirty Rice Can Be Served Separately or With Chicken Fricassee

Dirty Rice

This an excellent side dish for Chicken fricassee. I have article in crock-pot listed as Chicken fricassee.

This takes a short time to prepare, is best served hot. Can be made ahead and served the next day.

Ingredients:

1 cup rice per person

Any kind you want Long cooking or instant, this is your choice

1 bunch of fresh parsley, washed and cut with scissors

1 green pepper

1 bunch of green onions

1 medium onion

1 Jalepino pepper without seeds

1 tablespoon garlic

1 teaspoon Hungarian paprika (this add flavor not heat)

salt and pepper to taste

1 package of chicken livers (if you do not tell anyone they will not know, you can say meat)

1 teaspoon of margarine

Cut green pepper, green onions, and med. Onion into small chunks about ¼ inch (small is best, because this is going into the rice mixture) Cook the veggies until soft, and onion is clear. Low to medium heat

Take the margarine melt in a frying pan. Add the chicken livers. You will want to smash them. Either with a fork or a hand held mixer would work. (There will be things that look like veins, remove them.) When it is done, it should look like small chunks, like oatmeal flakes.

Add the cooked rice and the veggies to the livers. Mix well.

Serving Suggestions:

I serve this with Chicken Fricassee and cover with the gravy (RUE)

It can be served with any food, and compliments anything. It is well loved by my family and asked for a lot. I hope your family loves it as we do.

Thanks to its slightly porous nature and low thermal conductivity, VitaClay absorbs heat while maintaining a steady temperature, so it’s excellent for rice or slow cooking. It brings out rich flavors and texture of food. Additionally, VitaClay cooking bowl has natural nonstick cooking surface that is unglazed, so no chemicals or aluminum contacting your food! VitaClay Rice N’Slow cooker is one of the healthiest ways to cook rice or prepare a meal. By stewing foods rather than sautéing or frying, you can cook dishes that are low in fat and cholesterol. This translates to delicious meals that are good for you! And VitaClay can be used for preparing all kinds of cuisines, from Italian and Mexican to American and Asian.
Amongst the most trusted and consistent producers of cooking appliances in the world in Cuisinart. They're famous for offering superior quality at prices that are very reasonable for the average joe. This is especially true of Cuisinart rice cookers, which get rave reviews from customers all over the country.

One fabulous example of a popular Cuisinart unit is the CRC-400, 4 cup rice cooker. It's a small-sized appliance that can cook up to four cups of rice, sufficient for a young couple or a small family, though likely not sufficient for major dinner parties or events. The square shape of the rice cooker make it easy to put away or just push over to the corner of your counter. And the retractable cord make it even easier to store. It's stainless steel shell gives it a nice sleek look. You can use it not only to steam rice but also meat and vegetables in its stainless steel steaming basket. One of my favorite things about this cooker is that it automatically changes over to warm mode after the cook cycle has ended. So if for some reason you fail to check on your rice while it's cooking, that's fine because the warmer won't shut down so your rice will remain warm. I'm can be pretty forgetful, so I find this function very useful! One thing you should watch out for though with the CRC-400 is that the cooking instructions that are included with the appliance don't provide the best results. Consumer reports suggest that the recommended quantity of water is too high. It is likely a better idea to pay attention primarily to the instructions on the package of the specific rice you're using.

A bigger version of the same appliance is available too, which holds eight cups of rice. It is known as the Cuisinart CRC-800.

One more popular Cuisinart rice cooker is the FRC-800. It is a fair bit more costly at a standard price of 0, but it includes functions that certainly make it worth the price, if you have the money of course. One of the functions that make this rice cooker great is its "Fuzzy Logic technology", which automatically adapts the temperature and remaining time to the rice currently contained inside the pot, so there are no mistakes and your rice is great every time. This is also a big cooker, which cooks up to fifteen cups of rice at a time, so it's fantastic for serving lots of people at a time. It's a common rice cooker to see used in restaurants and cafes because of its large size and its automatic functions. There are also six pre-programmed rice cooking modes, one for white rice, one for hard white rice, one for sushi rice, one for brown rice, one for risotto rice, and one for soft white rice. It also has pre-programmed modes for oatmeal, soup, reheat, quick cook, and slow cook. The only bad aspects of the Cuisinart FRC-800 are its price range, and its big size which makes it impractical for many people to keep at home. But if it's important to you to cook excellent restaurant-quality rice those aren't important priorities.

Customer Reviews

By Ruchell Alexander (Boulder, Co. USA)
We are very pleased with this rice cooker and hope that it will last a very long time. The is the true test of quality. So far so good.

By Alexandra Andreeva (Russia, Moscow)
I own this item for about a month. Use it every day! It is absolutelly great! Especially if you have a baby. You don't need to watch food. It cooks by itself and goes off when it is done. LOVE IT!

By Don Weiser (Pisgah Forest, NC)
My latest "kick" is rice cookers. I love "bowl food" and I learned I can cook one pot, delicious, interesting, and even healthy meals using rice cookers. You can pay lots more for a fuzzy logic rice cooker but this little baby works perfectly. I'm also making steel cut oats Porridge in it so it isn't just for rice. The very tasty Rice Select (Texmati varieties) come out perfectly in it too. Fuzzy Logic to me means it's basically very hard to make a bad meal. Only negative I can see is this rice cooker is a 5.5 cup capacity. If you have a large large family you might need one with a higher capacity but this one makes lots of rice. I also bought an 8-cup On/Off/Warm Aroma ricer maker from Amazon and am very happy with that brand too. There's a Cajun rice cook book on Amazon whose recipes work best in the On/Off/Warm rice cooker.

Customer Reviews

By John The Baptist 2000
I've had a NUMBER of slow cookers/rice cookers over the years and this cooker is one of the BEST Ever!! It is a little slow to get started (having a slight time delay), but when it gets started it does a GREAT Job!! (I would suggest the Larger Unit, you won't regret the bigger size). -- The Clay surface really keeps the food warm, and the food seems Tastier (with not the usual aluminum taste from other [more modern] cookers. And I'm sure the Teflon on most popular cookers can't be 100% healthy over many years). -- And for the reviewer who had problems with this unit? (You probably just got the one RARE defective unit [It Happens, That's Life]). Mine has ALWAYS cooked my stuff 100% PERFECTLY and ALWAYS been Reliable!! -- I've also dealt with the VitaClay/Essenergy Response company (CALL [or Email] THEM if you have a problem) and I have ALWAYS been treated with the UTMOST professionalism and respect!! ( I broke my Clay Lid [My Fault] and I called to purchase another one [NO PROBLEM/FAST Shipping] - I also did something like this in the past, when I placed a HOT pot inside a COLD Freezer [CRACK!! - Again, MY Fault]) -- So I would HIGHLY recommend this product!! Buy It! (it is 100% WORTH IT)

By Patricia Mcdonald (Greensboro, NC USA)
I would definitely purchase this produce again. From packing, instructions, to the end result(s)...you will not be disappointed. I order alot from Amazon...from a Kindle to a slow cooker. They have never let me down. All products arrive on a timely basis and they keep me updated on all transactions! No, I am not employed by them; they just deserve my compliments. Vitaclay by Essenergy VF7900-4 Gourmet Rice N. Slow Cooker Pro 8 Cup

By Emilia M. D'anzica (Oklahoma City)
I love my vitaclay and use it all the time to cook brown rice and veggies. It is safe and easy to clean. I am sad I broke the lid after having it a year and now have to find out where to buy a new one. this pot kicks butt on any plastic or tephlon rice cooker.

Rival Rice Cookers

The slow cooker's history is not a long one. This cooker was brought out as the Bean Pot. It was basically a crock pot on a tray that heated up. The Beanery was the actually the first true forerunner for slow cookers. "Naxon Utilities Corporation" was responsible for developing that one.

This began Rival's exploration into the world of slow cookers. The company found that many types of foods cooked wonderfully with this same method. Once this was discovered 25,000 cookers were brought out and sold to the public as the first official Crock-Pot during 1971.

Also people were encouraged to save energy. Through using the low-wattage Crock-Pot this was easy.

With more women holding down jobs, Rival started to show them how easy fixing meals would be with their slow cooker. Rival knew that it would appeal to women that they could cook a meal, while they were away at work. Rival remains the leader in the market today with its slow cooker. They command a whopping 85 percent of the market. Many cookbooks have even been written chocked full of meal recipes specifically for the cookers of today.

You can find deluxe large-size models if you have a large family. You can cook everything from beef stew to chuck roast in them.

Everyone has such a busy life these days the slow-cooker is used on a daily basis in some homes.

You can find them ranging from a 16-ounce size up to a 7.4-quart size. This is the size of the crock. The low setting heats things to a temperature of 170 degrees Fahrenheit with the high setting heating food to 190 degrees to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.

This amount varies depending on what you are cooking. Special rice cookers are no more than an offshoot of the original slow cookers. So the history goes on for the very convenient cooking tool.

Mineral rich VitaClay known as Zisha clay is well known in Asia for its superior cooking qualities. For over 3,000 years, Chinese cultures have appreciated VitaClay because it absorbs and retains heat superbly, making it the ideal material to create pottery for cooking. Thanks to its slightly porous nature and low thermal conductivity, VitaClay absorbs heat while maintaining a steady temperature, so it's excellent for rice or slow cooking.
Customer Reviews

By Barbara in Melbourne, FL (Melbourne, FL USA)
I like cooking in a clay pot rather than aluminum. I've tried brown rice and soup in it and both are excellent. Moisture does collect in the rubber gasket of the outer container lid so care must be taken that it's completely dry before storing it. I'm very careful in handling the clay pot. It seems like it could be fragile and the instructions warn against temperature extremes.

By Jennifer King
I received this product as a gift and I love it! Stews are effortless. Just cut up some veggies and meat, add stock and press "stew". In four hours it's perfect. This machine turns really tough inexpensive cuts of meat into tender stews and soups.

The rice cooks much better than in the cheaper rice cooker I have. No "crunchy" rice at the bottom of the pot.

There's something about the clay cooking which cooks the food more evenly. It is also very easy to clean. There are many other features this cooker has which I haven't explored yet (the product comes with a recipe book), but even if it just made rice and stew I'd say it was an excellent buy!
