DAVE SHOWS YOU HIS SECRET RECIPE! BBQ DEER VENISON SANDWICH Video Rating: 4 / 5
Popular in the Islands, Latin America, and Miami, this classic dish is done with a 2 1/2 pound beef brisket, two red bell peppers, two medium onions, and a Goya tomato based sauce (called "Sofrito") which can be obtained in the latin section of most supermarkets. Best made in a slow cooker (crockpot) set to low for 6 hours. Remove the meat, shed it with two forks, return it to the pot. The peppers and onions will form a wonderful sauce along with the tomato based "sofrito" by Goya. Use a hand blender to make it smooth. That's all that is to it! Video Rating: 5 / 5

Greetings! Today I want to share with you how I make my pot roast. I know that there are as many recipes for pot roast as there are cooks, but this is how I like to do it and it is quick (and slow) and easy! You could do this in a low oven for a little less time over the course of an afternoon, but it will be a bit drier. Here is what you need to make this recipe: 1 bottom round or rump roast 2 to 4 pounds 2 cups fresh carrots (I used the baby carrots) 1 medium onion sliced 4 cloves of garlic smashed 2 envelopes of onion soup mix (1 box) 1 can of diced tomatoes (14 ounce) 2 beef bullion cubes 1 teaspoon of marjoram 2 bay leaves 1 sprig of fresh rosemary or 1 teaspoon of dried 1 teaspoon of cracked black pepper 4 cups of water Place carrots in bottom of your crock pot and put the roast fat side down on top. Add in the onions, tomatoes, soup mix, bullion cubes and spices as well as the water. Place crock in the heating sleeve and set on high put your lid on and go do something for 3 to 4 hours. When you can smell the roast check on it. Flip it over and put the lid back on and turn the temperature to low. Remember, not to take the lid off too many times, because it takes a long time for the crock pot to heat back up again. Now wait another 2 to 3 hours until the meat can easily be torn with a fork. Serve with potatoes of your choice and maybe a nice salad and some bread. You may choose to thicken the broth for a gravy or just serve it as we did au jus. I hope you try this ... Answer by erinl228 Barbecue sauce, some cherry preserves a little dijon mustard, brown sugar....YUM! Just made it yesterday!
Many people search the internet for slow cooker recipes. I know I have myself at times. The thing is, you really don't have to, at least not with most things you are going to want to cook. Once you have made a couple things with your slow cooker and understand how it works, you can start making up your own recipes-that's part of the beauty of the slow cooker!
What you need to remember, and truly understand, is that you really cannot destroy a stew or a roasted chicken, or many of the other things you can make in your slow cooker. This is a hard one for most of us to believe. We have been conditioned that we need to follow slow cooker recipes, or else we will end up with an inedible mess. This is just untrue!
I recommend you try it sometime and sometime soon. Go to the store and buy the basic things you want in a stew, maybe try ONE new thing. You don't want to experiment with more than one thing at a time. Cut your veggies, throw them in the cooker and let it do its thing. That is the beauty of the slow cooker is that it does all the work for you!
If there is something that you really want to make, but cannot find any recipes for it, please take my advice. Just try it out. Pretend you don't need a recipe. Trust me, I experiment all the time and it is rare that what I make is truly gross and its only when I'm crazy experimenting.
If you just want to do something a little different-then just do it. Nothing is stopping you but your own brain. It is telling you that you absolutely need instructions on how to do something that for years was improvised. Our grandparents certainly didn't use a recipe, and if they didn't, it wasn't nearly as exact as ours.
A Cuisinart PSC 350 is a great addition to any kitchen, you will find many, many uses for one of these. The internet abounds with information on crock pots. For really great free info, you can visit http://3quartslowcooker.net

The chicken is not de-boned. I don't know if it makes a difference in the crock pot, but thought I would mention it.

1eachchicken
2-5eachcarrots, sliced thinly
2eachonions, sliced thinly
2-5eachcelery, stalks, chopped, with a few leaves
1 1/2teaspoonsalt
1/2teaspoonblack pepper
16ozchicken broth, -or- 1 chicken boullion cube, disolved in 2 cups water
1teaspoonbasil, crushed
2 1/2tablespoonitalian seasonings mixture (optional)
Directions:
In a slow cooker, put in half of the chicken broth. Place half of the carrots, celery and onions in the bottom. Place the chicken (back side down) in the slow cooker. Add remaining broth, vegetables, salt and pepper, basil and italian seasonings (if used). Place lid on cooker and cook on LOW heat for 7-10 hours or HIGH heat for 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours.
Serves four.
NOTES: This is an excellent recipe for people on the go! Just start it in the morning and by 5 or 6 pm you have dinner! You can even get a package of mixed frozen vegetables if you don't have time to chop fresh ones. Buying a whole chicken is cheaper than to buy one pre-cut. The chicken almost falls off the bones it is so tender and it makes taking out the bones easy! Serve it in bowls over rice; like chicken soup. It makes a large amount and lasts at least 2-3 meals.
