Michelle Tennant Nicholson continues her video updates on her weight loss efforts and is in week 3 of the Jillian Michael's "Be the Change" 2011 Challenge. This week, Jillian has asked participants to watch "Fast Food Nation." Inspired by the family farm visit last Sunday (see Michelle's channel for all 9 videos) and eager to get food prepared for her husband's upcoming birthday weekend (with in-laws visiting) she takes her Friday lunch break to heat up the crock pot and pressure cooker to prepare natural, antibiotic free pork roast and organic chicken breasts in less than 10 minutes. The chicken is great cat food for her 20 year old finicky kitty cat and a lunch favorite at her house where she takes the shredded chicken and makes them into fast BBQ sandwiches. She also demonstrates how to prepare crock pot baked apples and make her husband's favorite healthy alternative to birthday cake: chocolate peanut butter pie made with frozen yogurt and coffee (only 5 minutes to prepare). So whether you're a busy mom, an entrepreneur with little time or a bachelor/single person who doesn't know how to cook, you'll find some quick tips on how to prepare organic, farm raised natural food, fast. Kick those fast food restaurants good-bye and say hello to a healthy heart and body. Subscribe to Michelle's channel as she will be updating weekly on how her challenge is going as well as how she's preparing the foods that come in her weekly share of her CSA (community supported agriculture ...

Question by The Teacher: How do you brown a roast before cooking it in a crock pot? ?
I want to cook a roast in a crock pot, but I was told to brown it first. Next, how much water do I put in the crock pot when cooking this roast? Help a guy trying to do a good job. Thanks

Best answer:

Answer by okiegirltoo
use a heavy skillet or roasting pan. spray the bottom with a cooking spray and heat to very hot. Put pepper on the roast and put it in and brown it very well on all sides. put it in the crock pot and add about a cup of water (you don't need much for slow cooking), add carrots and onions. cook according to crock pot directions until very tender and use the pot juices to make a great gravy and enjoy.

Crock pot recipes are always a hit. This beef & bean chili recipe is a great way to prepare chili in a crock pot. It's also super for tailgating or a potluck. Following are the ingredients you will need to prepare this crock pot recipe. We are using a Rival crock pot, but any brand will do. To make a crock pot turkey chili recipe, add ground turkey instead of ground beef. Ground Beef Chili - Crock Pot Recipes 1 Pound of ground beef or ground turkey 1 Can black beens 1 Can kidney beans 1 Can diced tomatos with chilies 1 Package McCormick chili seasoning Brown ground beef. Scoop out leaving the fat in the pan. Add the rest of the ingredients to the crock pot. Stir well. Set on low and cook about eight hours. Bowl or plate chili with tortillas and/or spinach. Top with Greek yogurt/sour cream, shredded cheese and homemade salsa.
