Not really. They are both going to be pretty tough and good for the crock pot. Pork butt should be less expensive however. The taste will be the same.

YES! big time. Pork butt is by far better for pulled pork. Use the crock pot if available and have it cook for 9 hours on low smothered in your favourite barbecue sauce.
real pulled pork is never cooked in a crock pot. If you dont have a smoker. Put it in a pan and stick it in the oven at 230 degrees for about 10 hours. And pork butt is pork shoulder just trimmed up.
Ii have used both and it taste just as good no matter which one
Not too much. I just recently cooked one and it turned out awesome! I took the pork shoulder and seasoned it with Salt, Pepper , Garlic and Thyme. Placed it in a deep disposable dish (great for clean-up) added about 1/2 cup of water. Covered with aluminum foil and baked at 350 for about 3 hours (This was a 5.5lb shoulder) after about 3 hours you can check if the meat has a bone and you can pull it out it is good and ready to be pulled. Once it was at that state I uncovered it and let it cook for 30 more minutes.
If you don’t care to fuss over it the crock pot is the best way to go. You can go wrong with that.
Not too much. One is a little fattier. Both will be good coming from the crock pot.
