Is it necessary to marinade a brisket if you plan to cook it in a crock-pot?

It isn’t necessary. The longer the brisket sits in marinade, the more it will become tenderized and absorb flavors. Some brands of marinade come with a plastic bag (similar to a cooking bag). You can marinade the brisket and transfer the brisket to the crock-pot with little hassle and no mess.

Yes, I would also recommend marinading, it really adds to the flavour of the meat.
