In general, slow cookers take many hours to completely cook a roast- often an entire day. It's better to overcook. As long as you have enough water, the contents will never burn. For the 2 pound round roast (sitting at least 1 cup of water), I would give it at least six hours - more if you are adding a lot of potatoes.
